Financial Institutions

Here are some helpful links with information about scholarships from various financial institutions:

(1). JN Foundation Annual Scholarship: Students, who are required to be members of the Jamaica National Building Society, are requested to apply for these scholarships through the scholarship office at their university. Requirements differs for the institutions But MUST have a minimum GPA of 3.3 irrespective of the institution.

(2). Sagicor Foundation Scholarship: Students applying must be accepted to pursue full-time studies and have a GPA of 3.0 and above. Applicants must not be the recipient of any other scholarship during tenure of study. Only clients of Sagicor Group Jamaica and its subsidiaries are eligible. Students whose parents are clients will be considered.  Team members of Sagicor Group Jamaica are not eligible to apply. Social Sciences, Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Science and Technology, Engineering, Building and Land Management,  Humanities and Education.

(3). First Heritage Cooperative Credit Union: {Oswald J. Thorbourne Scholarship}: Must be an active member of FHC for at least 6 months, must have maintained a B average, must be involved in community projects or exemplified leadership skills in clubs, associations or any other civic institution, two written references must be submitted to verify applicant’s involvement in projects, applicants must not be the recipient of any other current scholarships/transcript should be submitted.

(4). First Heritage Cooperative Credit Union: {Renald Mason Scholarship}: Must be a member or the child of a member of FHC for 6 months, students entering 2nd year to final year at any recognized tertiary institution, must demonstrate community volunteerism, have a GPA of 3.50.

(5). CIBC First Caribbean International Scholarship: Scholarships are offered to students at any campus of UWI in any discipline as follows: * three (3) scholarships for nationals of Barbados * three (3) scholarships for nationals of Jamaica * three (3) sch0olarships for national of Trinidad and Tobago * two (2) scholarships for nationals of Bahamas *three (3) scholarships for nationals of the OECS territories * one (1) scholarship for a national from any caribbean country who is the child of an employee of the Bank.

(7). First Regional Credit Union Scholarships: The student must maintain regular attendance at school. Acceptable behavior is a must with community involvement. The student must play an active role in school and must maintain a minimum of 60% average in 5 subjects. It is a plus for the student if he/she or his/her family is a member of the First Regional credit Union.
